This notice explains how Blackmount Recruitment Ltd (Blackmount, we, us) uses personal information when you visit blackmountrecruitment.com, contact us or use our construction recruitment services. We are the controller of that information. For privacy enquiries, email info@blackmountrecruitment.com or telephone 07530 192888.

Information we use

We use information you give us in applications, CVs, emails, calls and enquiries. This can include your name, contact details, employment history, qualifications, skills, experience, availability, preferred roles and locations, and correspondence about opportunities. Business enquiries may include your employer, job title and recruitment requirements.

Later in a recruitment process, relevant information may also come from a referee you nominate or a prospective employer. We explain additional checks when they are needed. Please keep initial enquiries and CVs relevant to recruitment: do not include bank details, identity-document numbers or unnecessary health or other sensitive information.

Our website and hosting services also process technical information, such as IP addresses, browser details and request logs, to deliver pages, prevent misuse and diagnose faults. See our cookie notice for website technologies.

Why we use information and our lawful bases

  • Recruitment and enquiries: our legitimate interests in responding to requests, assessing relevant skills and experience, matching candidates to suitable roles and communicating with candidates and clients. We balance these interests against your rights and reasonable expectations.
  • Requested contractual steps: where applicable, taking steps you ask for before entering a contract, or performing a contract with you.
  • Legal duties: keeping required employment-agency records and meeting applicable legal or regulatory obligations.
  • Website security and administration: our legitimate interests in maintaining a reliable service, preventing fraud and addressing complaints or legal claims.
  • Optional activities requiring consent: where consent is required, we ask separately and explain the purpose. You can withdraw that consent at any time. This does not affect earlier lawful processing.

Providing information is generally your choice, although we may be unable to assess an application or respond without the relevant details. Sending a CV does not give permission for unrelated marketing. The website does not itself make hiring decisions.

Who receives information

Relevant information is used by the people handling your enquiry or recruitment. It may be shared with prospective employers for recruitment, with professional advisers where necessary, and with authorities where the law requires it. Employers receiving an application are responsible for their own use of it and may provide a separate privacy notice.

Service providers support website hosting, communications and recruitment administration. Our current services include Hostinger for the website and its stored application records and uploaded CVs, Microsoft 365 for business email, and SourceWhale for recruitment activity. This does not mean that every website application is automatically transferred to every service. Google reCAPTCHA supports spam protection on relevant forms. We do not sell candidate information.

Optional website measurement

With your consent, first-party measurement helps us understand which sources and campaigns lead to recruitment enquiries. It uses fixed source, campaign and sector labels for 30 minutes and stores daily aggregate event totals for a rolling 30 days. It does not store names, contact details, CVs, search terms, full URLs, IP addresses or unique visitor identifiers in the measurement dashboard, and we do not send those events to an external analytics provider. Our hosting provider still processes requests to operate the website.

Optional events include page and job views, searches, form starts, Apply opens and email or telephone clicks. Operational counts of successful contact-form handoffs and new application records continue without optional consent, with no source assigned. They do not prove inbox receipt or candidate suitability. Your privacy choice lasts 90 days; withdraw consent through Measurement choices at the foot of public pages. Withdrawing stops future optional measurement and deletes the source cookie; earlier aggregate totals cannot identify you. See our cookies notice for details.

International processing

Our service providers operate internationally, so information may be processed outside the UK, including in the EEA and United States. UK data protection law requires a permitted transfer mechanism for restricted transfers, such as adequacy regulations or approved contractual safeguards. Contact us for information about the arrangements applicable to your information and how to obtain a copy of relevant safeguards.

How long information is kept

We keep information for as long as it is needed for the purpose collected, taking account of recruitment activity, the ongoing relationship, legal obligations and the need to establish or defend legal claims. Required agency records are retained for at least one year after creation and, for relevant work-seeker and hirer records, at least one year after we last provide services, whichever is later.

An initial enquiry or speculative CV that does not lead to work-finding action is assessed against its continuing recruitment relevance rather than kept indefinitely by default. Other contractual, financial or legal records may need longer retention. There is no automatic deletion of website applications at a fixed number of days. Contact us if you want information removed or no longer wish to be considered for roles; we will explain if particular records must be retained.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you can request access, correction, erasure, restriction or a portable copy of your information. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests, and you have an absolute right to object to direct marketing. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it.

Email info@blackmountrecruitment.com with your request. We may ask for proportionate information to confirm your identity. We normally respond within one month; if a lawful extension is needed, we will explain why. Rights are subject to applicable exemptions and legal record-keeping duties.

You may raise a concern with us or complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK data protection regulator.

Changes and contact

We update this notice when our services or processing change and display the revision date above. For questions about a particular application, recipient or retention period, please contact us using the details at the top of this page.
